Coach Zara is the founder and creative force behind SoundCheck Studios!
Zara is a passionate singing teacher with over 15 years of performance experience, having performed all over Australia. In 2020, Zara began her own Vocal Coaching YouTube channel, gaining great success, with over 2.6 million views and over 28k subscribers in under a year.
Some of Zara’s career highlights include singing at the World Industry Dance Awards in Sydney in 2019, and working alongside some of the best in the ‘biz, such as Jai Waetford, Stan Walker, Ylona Garcia and Buddah Stretch – to mentor young performers in the modern industry.
Zara believes in the power of community and connection in the music industry, and has an incredible network of industry professionals she considers not only mentors but friends.
Zara has studied the Estill Voice Training program and the Institute of Vocal Advancement techniques, as well as having gained her qualification in Vocal Health First Aid.
Zara can’t wait to show you everything there is to love about SoundCheck!
Claudia is an extremely experienced professional vocalist hailing from Melbourne! Having completed her Bachelor of Music at Victoria University, Claudia specialises in vocal technique and loves to geek out over vocal arrangements and harmonies.
In 2021, Coach Claudia took the “SoundCheck Squad” under her wing. A group class for 9-12 year olds, that focuses on harmony and ensemble work, and building confidence in young performers.
Claudia has completed Grade 8 with honours in her ANZCA exams, as well as her VCE exams in 2016 to high regard. She has also toured around Australia and played her part as both a soloist and in ensembles.
Her passion for music began at the young age of seven, and nothing has slowed her down since! You will love Claudia’s warm and nurturing nature, and her bubbly personality is sure to inspire students from all walks of life!

Murray has grown up in and around music, playing and performing as a drummer since the age of 6. Murray has since gone on to build a career in sessional drumming all over Victoria.After finishing school, Murray spent his time growing his business Fifth Layer Music – which provides a team of 25 musicians to service corporate entertainment, artist support, and studio production.In his spare time, Murray works in corporate videography and AV – in collaboration with some of Melbourne’s most reputable media and events companies.Murray is a country kid through and through! Growing up in the small rural town of Tallarook, before recently moving to the big smoke to persue his career.Murray has worked and performed in many of the state’s biggest venues including Marvel Stadium, Melbourne Town Hall, Crown Casino, and Melbourne Exhibition Centre.Mixing his passions of music, organization and logistics – Murray works in our admin crew to make our ship sail!
Steph is our resident Office Wizard at SoundCheck Studios! If you need a hand with scheduling, or are just up for general chit chat – Steph is your girl!
Steph studied Film and Television at Deakin University in Melbourne. After graduating from Uni, Steph started her own videography business ‘Steph Clifford Films’ specialising in filming weddings and content for local businesses.
Steph loves using her videography skills to create some amazing content for the SoundCheck socials and website, and is an absolute creative asset to our team.
Steph loves working with people and is here to solve all of your problems, so don’t be shy if you have any questions!

Our Coach Liam is a jack of all trades – offering Guitar, Vocals and Group lessons!
His passion for music began at the age of 12, when he picked up a saxophone for the first time in high school. It didn’t take long before he was broadening his horizons only a year later in guitar. This spurred on an even greater love of music, with Liam completing AMEB exams for saxophone, and also transposing and arranging scores for his high school concert band.
Since then Liam has kept up his passion for performing, with a focus on theatre. He has been cast in several local theatre productions in many principal roles, including Rock of Ages, Wicked (Boq), Jesus Christ Superstar (Simon, U/S Jesus), Jekyll & Hyde (Spider), Les Miserables (Enjolras) and Mamma Mia (Eddie).
Liam fronted and wrote original songs and lyrics for his band Anyone, Anyone. Through the band, Liam has had the amazing opportunity of performing alongside many major Australian and International acts such Dream on Dreamer, Awaken I Am and most notably We The Kings.
Other notable performance experience includes the Ballarat Carols by Candlelight and several performances in the US at some incredible places such as Universal Studios, and Disneyland.
In 2021, Liam launched SoundCheck’s first boys only group class – The SoundCheck Crew!
Liam is super excited to be a part of the team at SoundCheck! He believes that everyone has the ability to build confidence, and achieve their individual goals!
Wil is an indelible member of the SoundCheck community, and has been taking lessons with Zara ever since SoundCheck opened 3 years ago. He is a skilled singer, songwriter, and performer and a perfect addition to our space in his role as Admin Assistant. Wil has an infectious laugh and always brings a smile to our faces, and his unwavering passion for music is something that we all admire about him.

Our Coach Aaliyah has undergone extensive vocal and songwriting training since 2017 with Cody Bell, but has been singing for her entire life!
Keen to expand her vocal ability and experience, Coach Aaliyah stepped into the world of musical theatre alongside the Young Australian Broadway Chorus. She was lucky enough to have the opportunity to perform on various big-time stages, including the National Theatre in St Kilda!
Alongside her singing experience, Aaliyah has enjoyed building her skills as a trained actor, working with several industry professionals such as David Schaal, Kym Valentine, Adrian R’mante, and Tyler Steelman to name a few!
She joined SoundCheck in early 2022, and managed to book out a schedule of almost 40 students in only a few short months. Her relationship with her students, and the standard of her teaching speaks of itself!
Aaliyah is beyond excited to be a part of the SoundCheck community, and she can’t wait to see you all in the studio soon!
Mia first started exploring her passion when she was 10 years old. At first, she tried every type of dance and singing but mostly stuff to musical theatre. Mia has performed in many productions and has secured some leads in these shows as well, such as ‘Into the woods Jr’, ‘Peter Pan Jr’ and ‘The Secret Garden’. Mia also loved dance and represented the team in multiple dance competitions across Victoria competing with her Jazz Troupe, Song and Dance Troupe and in Jazz Solos as well.
Mia is so excited to join the team and help others with their music journeys!
Harry was born into a very musical family, inspiring his love of music since before he can remember. His fascination began to gain momentum at the age of seven with his introduction to formal instruction on the trumpet. His interest continued to expand from there as he progressed in the development of his skills on the drums, guitar, piano, bass guitar and vocals.
Using this collection of instruments, Harry’s musical direction evolved through relentless experimentation with music production programs such as Ableton and FL Studio. The composition, assembly, and release of his own music under the name of ‘surfe’ was to follow. 2023 will see Harry commence his VCE studies towards a Certificate III in Sound Production, alongside his continued studies in general Music at school.
Harry has enjoyed performing his original works live on stage at community events, as well as supporting and accompanying other artists at local gigs. Harry is young, full of energy and very much looking forward to supporting students to feel valued and encouraged as they find and explore their love for music. Harry is drawn to what he sees in the culture that is fostered at SoundCheck Studios, and this is something he is looking forward to being a part of and contributing to in his role as guitar coach.
Mikala has been singing from the moment she could talk and always knew that performing was her dream!Currently completing her VCE Certificate in Music Performance and having completed her VET Cert 3 in Music Performance, she takes to the stage with vivacity and passion, exploring a multitude of genres through her love for musical theatre as well as her enthusiastic exploration of pop, rock, punk, and funk through local band What The Fuzz! Mikala loves every aspect of music, loving the fun she has on stage with her band as well as songwriting and integrations of theory, always leaping at a chance to learn something new. When she’s not singing, Mikala can be found in other aspects of the performing arts, playing in school bands, learning new instruments, exploring drama and acting, andassisting with local musical theatre productions. She loves the community of music and is super excited to share her passion with others and help to cultivate a safe, personal, and powerful approach to music and performance.Mikala is beyond excited to join the SoundCheck team!
